The Day Out

Hi all

The team spent the morning on a "jolly" to the city centre to take in the local architecture and sports shops! It was good to get out of the hotel and get rid of some of the brewing cabin fever. Hugo gave a rendition of "Don't Cry for me Argentina" outside of Evita's balcony and was quickly arrested for crimes against the state. Redders kept out the sun with the worst attempt at a bandanna ever, despite not needing it as the temperature dropped 10 degrees today to a mild 18 degrees. The wind also got up strongly in the night leading to some of the lads' underwear and clothing disappearing from their balconies - despite Redders claims that it must have been the local women!

Following training this afternoon where the penalty competition was won by captain marvel Steve Daley (more like Captain Underpants) we endured another ride on the "fun bus" when our normal 15 minute journey turned into an hour when the bus got stuck in the side streets after dropping of Russia at their hotel. After wiping a parked car out and causing havoc on the roads we finally arrived back at the hotel in one piece. It seems that no journey is complete without at least one incident on the "fun bus".

Tomorrow sees everything get serious with the opening ceremony followed by our first game against Ireland at 6 o clock.

The planning has gone well, the lads are ready, the staff are ready - come on team England!! Match report will be written as soon as possible after the game. All other results can be found by following the link on the homepage to the official website

Come on England - 3 lions on the shirt, Jules Rimmet still gleaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
