Players Pushed to the Edge at "The Cliff"!

Hi all

Things got down to the serious business end today with a hard training session at the world famous "Cliff" facility at Manchester United. The players worked hard on a punishing physical and tactical 2 hour session finished off by some of that infamous penalty training (both long and short penalties are taken in the game of Futsal).

The team were filmed and interviews given for Setanta and MUTV and again thanks must be given to staff at Manchester United for their help and support. The only unfortunate thing was that they had finished filming when Assistant Coach John Ackerley went a "pearler" when shot by a sniper in the rafters during a training game!! (However, we are hoping to post coverage of this tomorrow either by still photos or video peg).

Things got even better when the draw was announced that morning with England securing a group that misses the World and European champions Belarus. The draw is as follows;

Group A - England, Spain, Argentina, Ireland, 1 TBC (following the withdrawal of Brazil from the competition)

Group B - Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, France, Italy

The top 2 teams from each group go through to the semi-finals. England have their first match against Ireland following the opening ceremony on Sunday 16th and the opening game of Argentina vs Spain.

The team left for Argentina at 2.30 pm with high hopes of returning with a World Cup medal
